Currency & Exchange
The Moroccan currency is dirham (DH or MAD) divided into 100 centimes.
There are banknotes of 20, 50, 100 and 200 dirhams, coins of 1, 2, 5 and 10 dirhams and of 5, 10, 20 and 50 centimes.
Non-residents not residing in Morocco can convert foreignthe currencies imported freely to dirham in banks or institutions authorized to carry out currency exchange (hotels, bazaars etc).
When you convert a foreign currency into dirham, keep the exchange receipt for it can be useful at the time of the repurchase, near a bank, of the dirham in your possession.
Banks open from Monday to Friday and some on Saturday morning.
The travelers' cheques in euros or US dollars are exchanged in hotels or banks. The majority of shops accept credit cards.

Three operators share the Moroccan GSM network (Maroc Télécom), covering 85% of the territory.

Language
The official language of Morocco is Arabic. It is the language taught at schools and used by the media.
However, Morocco is a multi-lingual country where a number of languages are used: Spanish is spoken in the North, English is taught in every school and French is used by Moroccans in their daily life.

Climate
Opened at the same time on the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, stretching between 27° and 36° of north latitude.
Its geographical position and the mountainous barrier, which crosses it, thus influence the general features of its climate.
The regulating action of the ocean decreases when one moves away towards the east and the south.

Health
There is no particular medical risk in Morocco.
Vaccines: No certificate of vaccination is required for the travellers coming from Europe or America.

Gastronomy
Recognised by the gourmets like one of best of the world, the Moroccan cooking is fine and is very varied: lamb barbecue, pastilla, tajines, couscous, cakes with honey and almonds.
The wines of the country, reds and rosy, are very appreciated and the local beer has a very good quality.
The national drink is the mint tea.

The Moroccan craft industry is flourishing, mixing ancestral know-how and need of daily life; it uses leather, wool, ordinary or precious metal, wood…
You will be able to buy silver or gold jewels, crimped stone or worked, heritage of the know-how of the Berber craftsmen, objects of wooden carved, ceramics and potteries, leather working, work of silver – copper - pewter, minerals and fossils, carpets, wickerwork.

Electrical Power
The voltage most usually used in Morocco is the 220 volts-50 Hz
